Hole 1 - The First
1st- The first hole, a long straight Par 5 with Pine trees lining both sides of the fairway, is a challenging shot to the green due to its straightness. The Pros tip: Be aware that the fairway narrows 100 metres in. Missing the fairway on the left near the green can be tricky due to the canopy of the trees.
Hole 2 - Good Luck
2nd - The second is a short Par 3 with water on the left and bunkers on the right. A first bad shot can complicate the par. The Pros tip: be aware of the wind as the tee is very sheltered.
Hole 3 – Village
3rd - The Third is a Par 5 which has a dog leg of the tee from right to left. The out of bounds on the right is a short but wide green. The Pros tip: Don’t get caught with a half shot into the green as the green is very narrow.
Hole 4 – Thin
4th - The fourth hole is a Par 4 which has a slight dog leg from the right to left, with a lake on right the hand side of the green. The out of bounds on the left and fairway are well outlined with trees. The Pro’s tip: There is plenty of room of the tee to the right (o.b left)
Hole 5 - The Bridge
5th - The fifth hole is a Par 3 with a lake which is before a raised green surrounded by bunkers. The Pro’s tip: All the trouble is at the front of the green, make sure to take enough club.
Hole 6 – Snake
6th - The sixth hole is a great double dog leg Par 5 which starts with a drive over a lake, then a dog leg from right to left and then left to right. The green is boarded by two big bunkers. The Pro’s tip: The bunker to the left of the green is cleverly placed, the green goes much further to the right then you think.
Hole 7 - Lucky Seven
7th - The seventh hole, a Par 3, has an angulated green and is surrounded by three bunkers. The Pro’s tip: Try and keep the ball on the low side of the hole. Miss this green on the wrong side and you are in trouble.
Hole 8 - Twin Pines
8th - The eighth hole is our stroke index number one. A long Par 4 up hill turned difficult by the wind. Located in the centre and centre right of the fairway, there are two big trees and a hill. The Pro’s tip: This hole play’s longer then it looks be sure to take enough club.
Hole 9 - Half Way
9th - The ninth is a Par 3 slightly up hill with bunkers to the right and behind. The Pro’s tip: On the green the ball moves more than it looks.
Hole 10 - The Lakes
10th - The tenth hole is a long Par 5 with a lake to the right off the tee, a second lake on the left running up to the green. It has a Dog Leg from the right to the left. The Pro’s tip: To set yourself up for an easy pitch place your second shot to the lake as the green runs parallel with the fairway.
Hole 11 - Gone With the Wind
11th - The eleventh hole is a dog leg Par 5 from right to left with bunkers running down both sides of the fairway from 150 metres in. It has a Lake on the right. The green, surrounded by two bunkers, has three elevated levels. The Pro’s tip: The green has 3 teirs the centre of the green is the best option.
Hole 12 – Lefty
12th - the twelfth hole is a long Par 4 with a dog leg right to left. The green is long with a bunker on each side. The Pro’s tip: A good drive will bounce to the left as the fairway slope around the corner so there is no need to risk flying the ball over the corner.
Hole 13 - Atlantic Ocean
13th - The Thirteenth hole is the signature hole of Quinta da Marinha, this hole bends slightly from left to right downhill towards a wide ocean view. A fantastic ravine on the right. The Pro’s tip: your second shot is key as the green slops away from you. The chip is a lot easier short than form behind the green.
Hole 14 – Ravine
14th - The fourteenth hole is a difficult Par 3 over a ravine to a narrow green. The Pro’s tip: club selection is key as short is never good but long makes to a difficult chip back lowers the ravine.
Hole 15 - Iron(y)
15th - The fifteenth is a short but tricky par 4 with a straight fairway slopping from right to left. Accentuated two level green. The Pro’s tip: The name of the hole gives this away iron is the best option off the tee.
Hole 16 - Sweet Sixteen
16th - The sixteenth hole is a short Par 3 slightly up hill with a green slopping from left to right. The Pro’s tip: The trees around the tee shelter you from the wind which normally blows from left to right.
Hole 17 - Step by Step
17th - The seventeenth is a Par 4 slightly uphill and bending a little from the left to right. The fairway has a hill in the centre and the green is lined with bunkers. The Pro’s Tip: The second shot is a key with a big green, going directly for the Pin sometimes is the wrong option.
Hole 18 - Drive Home
18th - The final hole is a Par 4 with a fairway bunker well placed in the centre- left. At the beginning, an outbound on the left and a big green with various levels. The Pro’s tip: From the tee the fairway looks nice and wide beware of the grass bunker which catches a lot of drives.
